Calgary City Information
EDUCATION IN CALGARY
There are three types of schools:
Elementary:
E.C.S. to Grade 6
Junior High:
Grades 7, 8, 9
Senior High:
Grades 10, 11, 12
There are also special education classes offered by both
the Public School Board and the Separate School Board. These classes are for children with
various learning difficulties. For more information, call 403-294-8211 for the Public School
Board and 403-298-1411 for the Separate School Board.

In Alberta we have two tax supported systems: the Separate
School (Roman Catholic) with over 66 schools, and the Public School System
(non-denominational) with over 206 active schools. Both of these systems cover Early
Childhood Services (kindergarten) to Grade 12.
